How our week shaped up....

Monday started off with a bang..or maybe a bump...

Daddy worked all day at OTC in Houston and then headed home for a late dinner. We were holding dinner for him and he arrived around 6pm. We were visiting a bit before eating and the kids were out on the trampoline. After a few minutes we heard a yell and Card kept saying "he is SO faking it" as he headed to the backdoor to open it for Jack. Jack came in holding his arm and crying (not screaming his head off - just crying). Daddy tried to look at his arm but Jack kept saying " I just want to go lay down" - then Katie said "daddy - look at the lump in his arm". Daddy took one look and said "we are headed to the hospital" so he and Jack jumped in the van and took off while mommy stayed home and fed the kiddos. After feeding them dinner and saying a prayer for Jack, the little ones went to bed and mommy hopped in the Barnes' car (daddy took our van and i cannot drive his standard) while Mrs. Caroline came and stayed with the little ones. See how things unfolded below...

Daddy in the ER at St. Lukes with Jack. St Lukes was a wonderful hospital - great staff and they really took care of Jack.

This is a picture of Jack's arm

this is how Jack looked the entire time - kinda chill so everyone thought maybe he just popped his elbow out of socket.. then the nursing staff got his x-ray pics back...

and we watched them all look at them and look at Jack and say "ouch!". Then they came in and asked what pain medication they had given him - when we told him he had not had any yet they looked shocked and said "let's get this boy something for his pain!".

so they did and Jack could finally let go of daddy and have his arm put in a splint

then we were transferred to Texas Children's

interesting looking arm angle huh?

we finally got into a room around 1am. The hospital was on drive by status and was full - so the fact that we even got in and got a room was the Lord's doing. This is our favorite nurse Ms. Myra - she had a neat assistant named Luis but I did not get a picture of him. We tried to sleep a few hours. Jack was scheduled for surgery first thing in the morning.

Jack after his happy drugs before surgery. Dr McKay did the surgery - he is an expert on this type of break and did it under a live x-ray machine so he did not have to make an incision.

Our little Jack after the surgery - he has three pins sticking out of his arm and everything is covered in the cast.

with his two new friends

he turned his nose up at chicken nuggets and bread. You should have seen his face light up when I told he we could go get him a salad!

out for a little wagon ride

this was a neat train display at the hospital.

on his second salad!

and finally - on our way home LATE Tuesday night!
